The wind echo's throughout the house, the curtains near the windows flow out towards the bed like a female's hand reaching out to her long lost lover. The moonlight pours into the room crawling to the bed, and on the end of the bed we see the one and only AJ Phoenix. He lets one leg dangle down as the other props up next to him, he stares out into the darkness of the night.
"It's happening, I can feel it. They are starting to see the bigger picture, they're starting to see what thousands of others have. I know it wouldn't take them long. They put me against Hammond to test me, to see what I'd do. Then against Everyman to see how I'd go against a former champion, both tests I passed with flying colors. And now I stand on the eve of my first Pay per view appearance, and I'll be facing an old foe and a new one. Two men who have been here longer than me, two men who probably believe I don't belong, but how wrong they are. I belong here just as much as them, this place, this company is something new, something vibrant, it fills my soul with a newfound sense of worth, of purpose"
AJ pushes off the bed, a creaking noise is heard, he makes his way over to the archway of the bedroom door. He leans against it looking out onto the fields near his home. We see his figure in the moonlight, his long hair dangling down the sides of his face like curtains framing his handsome features, his body although not overly big compared to some is still toned and fit. He stands topless only wearing a pair of jeans and army boots, the cold wind hits his body and refreshes him like a cold drink of ice tea on a hot summers day, he lets out a sigh and cracks a smile closing his eyes tight
"This is what my life was, this is how I spent my time injured, not a bad life by anymeans. I laid back, caught up on some reading, I even started a few new hobbies, motocross, playing in a band, bungee jumping, but none of that could match the rush of being in a ring. thousands of people in the palm of your hand, you have the power to make them scream in delight or hiss in anger. I missed that power, so I came back, I came back fitter than I'd ever been, I came back stronger and faster, and now with a renewed drive and determination. Yet people still question me, they question my resolve and my spirit, how dare they?. I suppose it's my own fault, being away for so long they believed I was never returning. But they'll soon know, I'm the prince of perfection, I'm the one who will become the dominant force in the NCW"
AJ's hands make fists, he struggles to keep his composure, slowly he starts to lose it. He clenches his jaw, his breathing becomes heavy, the veins under his paper thin skin start to bulge as the blood courses through them, his muscles tense as he feels the anger take hold, his voice once calm and soothing now seems to be a half growl filled with anger and rage, he looks up through his hair, we see the frustration build in his eyes, the window to a mans soul
"I will reclaim my place at the top of this business, I don't care who I have to go through to do it. Every single member of the empire, all those pathetic jackasses in social distortion, I will make it my mission to put them all out of their misery. But first I have that pitiful speed bump Brad Kane, or is it reckless jack?, or should I say brad Wallace?. I don't care what you call yourself, to me you're still that whiny little jerk-off. I saw you and your wife having your little conversation at the airport. How sweet and touching, but I have news for you Brad, if you really want to win lotto and quit wrestling then you don't belong here, NCW is about dedication, this has to be your life Brad, or have you forgotten that I too have a family, you think I like being away from my kids for most of the year?, no, but I do it because I love this business, you do it as a paycheck, and don't deny it, we all heard the words, if I won lotto I wouldn't quit, I'd keep doing what I do, it's a part of my life....you seem to think of it as only a job...."
AJ breathes deep calming down, he opens his hands and leans against the doorway, the moonlight still beating down
"But you know what?, that's fine. You want to do this as just a job then you'll step in the ring with me and see that passion wins out. I will stand in the ring with my head held high, cause win or lose, I'll still be a star, I'll still be what you wish you could be and that is simply perfect."
AJ smirks as the scene fades out
