"Sure I am that this day, we are masters of our fate.
That the task which has been set before us is not above our strengths.
That it's pangs and toils are not beyond our endurance.
As long as we have faith in our cause, and an unconquerable will to win...
...Victory will not be denied us." -Winston Churchill

It's a clear, star filled night...no movement can be seen. As the camera pans down off the sky, a playground can be seen. The swings and the tire swing can be seen moving in the gental breeze. The camera pans off across a neighboring soccer field...and there is a person laying down in the middle of it. The camera slowly moves up to reveal the man as Joe Everyman...he is laying down on his back, with his arms behind his head. He is fixated on the sky. He seems to be breathing heavier than normal. He finally breaks the silence of the night...
Joe Everyman: Well I heard your voice on a tulsa wind when I was far away from home, I will come to you in a dream my friend, to love you when I'm gone. And there's never a second, never a moment...that you'll ever be alone.
Joe then cracks a smile.
Joe Everyman: From Memphis to Oklahoma...from Boston to California...from Detroit to Arizona...I will always be forever...here with you.
Joe then quickly sits up...still looking up into the darkened sky.
Joe Everyman: Well the first time I ever seen your face, I saw the ghost behind your eyes, ever consuming me with your warm embrace, you’re a woman and a child. And in just one second, just one moment, it finally feels like home...
Joe then drops his jaw to his chest...looking at the ground.
Joe Everyman: From Memphis to Oklahoma...from Boston to California...from Detroit to Arizona...I will always be forever here with you...
In life there will be trials and troubles, but we will always have each other, and there could never be another woman in this world.
Joe then falls back onto his back...still looking up.
Joe Everyman: ...In this world.....in this world.....
...in this world...
Joe cracks a smile...and is quickly starteled by his cell phone. It is playing a ringtone...the same song Joe was just singing.
Joe Everyman: Hey hunny...you're lost?......um.......oh! That's why, you look a left at 22nd, it's a right......so, Scotty's driving?.........tell him he's an idiot........thanks.........ok, see you in a bit....I love you too.
Joe then drops the phone next to his ear.
Joe Everyman: Damn this is peaceful...laying here alone...not a care in the world...I need this.
Joe then quickly sits up.
Joe Everyman: Wait a second...I have a National Championship match this Sunday!
Joe looks around as to look for someone.
Joe Everyman: And it's aganist that dirty bastard JFK...the man who stole my title. And yes I say stole...JFK has no right to carry my title. So much has happened between him and I...he should know this is how it would go down. And looking at the past nCw matches we've had, we are one and one. I have a triple threat victory over him and he has the same with me...just happened in an unlucky order...that's all. In my mind, JFK and I are dead even...as it should be. I hate lob sided fueds...it makes it no fun for the fans or for the men involved. What's the point of people like the Great Khalo fueding a little guy like Hornswoggle? It's just not right or fair...now, JFK and I are different. Him and I have alot in common for being such distant people. JFK and I have the same determination, the same desire and from what I've seen...the same will to win. JFK and I are literally perfect opponents for eachother. And to boot, it's for the nCw National Championship...a title that is second only to the nCw World Heavyweight Championship. It truly is the final stepping stone into the main event and onto the World title hunt...I know I've said it time and time again, but it is true.
Joe puts his arms behind him and leans backwards, bracing himself with his arms. He looks back off into the horizen.
Joe Everyman: And that is where JFK and I are also similar...we have both been on the edge of the main event circle for a long time now. And this title is signifigant to both of us...so we fight for our lives and our futures because of it...it shows and creates both of those things for us. The nCw National Championship is what makes us what we are...without it, we are just guys in this business, doing what we do best...competing. But with the National title...it gives us something to strive for. Alot of the older guys say "You're only as good as your last match" and alot of others look at your past achievments...both JFK and I are former National champions. We have both beaten the upper tier guys...and yet, we aren't in the main event yet. Alot of guys here claim JFK and I both need to be...and after this Sunday, one of us will rise up and take that respect...and another will fall down. I do believe...with all of my heart...that it will be me. I know that JFK talkes a mean game, but I've beaten him before. And in my book, like I said before...JFK and I are even. This is easily the rubber match in our fued...it will be the one who settles once and for all of who is better...JFK or Joe Everyman. And with no rules and falls counting anywhere...I can't think of a better way to settle it.
Joe then lets his arms out from under him and lays down again. He looks off into the night's sky one more time.
Joe Everyman: Run and tell all of the angels
This could take all night
Think I need a devil to help me get things right
Hook me up a new revolution
Cause this one is a lie
We sat around laughing and watched the last one die
I'm looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I'm looking for a complication
Looking cause I'm tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly high
Joe looks up and smiles again.
Joe Everyman: I think I'm done nursing the patience
I can wait one night
I'd give it all away if you give me one last try
We'll live happily ever trapped if you just save my life
Run and tell the angels that everything is alright..
I'm looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I'm looking for a complication
Looking cause I'm tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly high
Make my way back home when I learn to fly
Joe takes a quick pause.
Joe Everyman: Come along with me
I can't quite make it alone
Try to make this life my own
Fly along with me, I can't quite make it alone
Try and make this life my own
I'm looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I'm looking for a complication
Looking cause I'm tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to
Looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I'm looking for a complication
Looking cause I'm tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly high
Make my way back home when I learn to fly
Make my way back home when I learn to learn to learn to learn to
Joe then sits back up and leans on his arms once again.
Joe Everyman: I'm a person who believes music is what makes us all human. Without music...we wouldn't exsist. I believe all songs can be used to fill some type of moment. And I know that's proubly what you guys have thought I'm doing...looking to the sky for an answer. And in all honest, I haven't been...I've been looking for JFK's hope...it's gotta be somewhere up there. I mean...the song fits JFK. He is always been a singles guy...never looking around for aid, but now he's got his own backup arsinal. And I do believe he's ganna need some sort of angel to get him to survive this match aganist me. I know...I'm no Spike Kane or Dark Phophet...but I know my way around a steel chair or a ladder better than most of the other guys in the whole nCw locker room. In my eyes JFK...I am going in as the man with a bigger advantage. And I believe you should do as the song says...look to the sky for a sign to help you...cause you're ganna need it. JFK...I respect alot of guys, and I know you're good...but I won't say a damn good thing about you. Our past has made me down right hate you as a wrestler, as a person and as a human being. JFK...I don't like you...I hate you...and I know I will demolish you this coming Sunday at Picture Perfect...and the nCw National Championship will return to it's rightful place around my waist. James...if you give up now and just hand me the belt, I promise I won't hurt you. Cause you see...this is more than just the belt. It's about pride, it's about our past and our futures, but mostly...it's about proof. It's who can prove themselves the most. Cause I do believe the man who wins this match will become the man to challenge for the nCw World Heavyweight Championship next...weither it be Steve Awesome, Trent Helms or Lance Ryan...one of us will be going for them. And I know it will be me...and I know I can win the World Heavyweight Championship. So JFK...you better be ready for one hell of a ride...cause that's what you're in for...
Joe's words fade as the scene goes to black. A quote then appears on the screen...
"Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyway."
- John Wayne
- John Wayne
It appaears for a few seconds and fades...as another comes up...
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character,
give him power."
-Abraham Lincoln
give him power."
-Abraham Lincoln
It slowly fades out as the feed finally cuts out.
