The dude won a lifetime acheivement award five years ago...and just finished an HBO special about a month back that premiers like, soon...the guy was one busy 71 year old and he's gonna be missed...
As I said to a few people, there goes the last great Comedian. After Pryor, he was the only living legend left from the first gen of stand-up.

He's the ric flair of comedy. Only thing is, Flair aint dead yet, he's just retired. Carlin only retired when he died...and that's the way he wanted it.
Edit: And in memoriam, instead of watching Raw(well both tvs with cable had people watching stuff anyway, like I woulda wanted to watch Raw tonight...)I watched his 96 special and last special ever on Youtube. It's kinda odd to know that the last words he spoke on a televised stage were "My opinion is that you aren't entitled to your opinion, and then you go shoot the guy and walk away".
