A fresh start. Isn't it what we all want at some point in our life? You get a few years into a job, things change and you want to start new. This is exactly what Chris Wilkins is doing. After fighting in the same federation for almost three years, he's decided to get a fresh start and has joined NCW.
Let me introduce myself. I have no body. I have no name. I'm just here. Some people call me a narrator. Some call me crazy. Most don't even know I exist. I'm here for one reason and one reason only. To follow around Chris Wilkins and tell you about his life. Mostly about NCW.
I know what a lot of you are thinking about. Who is Chris Wilkins? He's the best wrestler in America. In the world. He's been wrestling for four, nearly five, years, has won multiple awards and titles, and is considered one of the best mat-wrestlers in the world. He's twenty-four years old, five feet seven inches, and weights 175 pounds. Anything else you want to know? Than read on!
Today, we join Chris Wilkins and the beautiful Jessi Colter (Chris's girlfriend and manager), flying in an airplane from Salt Lake City to Dallas, Texas, the site of first-ever NCW Collision. The show will be held on the August 5, and will feature the first six matches of NCW World title tournament. Chris will be facing off against Davey Ortega. A man that he knows nothing about. And that's just what he wants. In his previous federation, Chris knew everything about everybody and got sick of facing the same people over and over again. So, coming to NCW and facing new people, that's what has him excited. He's eager to prove himself to the new fans, the new wrestlers, and the new management. Let's join the couple as Chris reads a wrestling magazine that has an article about him and Jessi is sleeping next to him, with a pair of headphones covering her eyes. You can hear soft music coming from them. Chris puts down the magazine and looks at Jessi.
Chris (Thinking to himself): Man, she is so beautiful. I'm so glad she's back in my life. Being without her for those few months was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. I love her even more then Stephanie and Sandy.
Chris Wilkins Fact: Chris has had three girlfriends during his wrestling career. His first was Sandy Madden, who he dumped when he entered his last federation. His second, Stephanie Booth, who he ended up marrying and then dumping when he got with Jessi. And now, Jessi Colter.
Chris (Still thinking to himself): That blonde hair, running down her face, covering her blue eyes. I don't ever want to lose her again.
At that moment, Jessi opens her eyes, smiles at Chris, and takes off her headphones.
Jessi: Are we there yet?
Chris: Nope, still got an hour left.
Jessi: Wow, I thought I slept longer then that.
Chris: You only did for about thirty minutes. You slept through some pretty rough flying.
Jessi: Did I? Good, I hate it when it gets rough. Did you read that article?
Chris: Yea, I did.
Jessi: What did it say?
Chris: That I'm full of potential, that I have a better chance of becoming a wasted talent then I do of becoming a World champion, and that going to NCW will either be the end of my career or a new start. Pretty much, they don't know crap, like most magazines.
Jessi: I still want to know how they could use your name and your pictures without your permission.
Chris: I dunno. I don't really care either. I'm used to it.
Jessi: I guess you would be. As long as they never do an article like that on me. I'd probably snap and kill whoever wrote it. How can you stand it?
Chris: Just use it as motivation. For every writer that says I'm full of wasted potential, it just makes me want to unlock that potential. And now, with this fresh start in NCW, my full potential will be on display.
Jessi laughs at this. Chris looks at her like she's lost her mind.
Chris: What?
Jessi: Oh, I was just thinking how you're a hall of famer and you're saying that you're now just gonna unlock your potential.
Chris: Yeah, I guess that is kinda funny.
Jessi: Have you learned anything about your opponent yet?
Chris: Not really. I know his name is Davey Ortega, he goes by the nickname "The Genius Macrobian," and...
Jessi: The what?
Chris: I have no idea. Anyway, he's shorter then me, outweighs me by like fifty pounds, he's from Las Vegas, and he wrestles a little like me.
Jessi: A little?
Chris: Well, he claims to be a technical wrestler, but we all know that nobody is as good as I am.
Jessi: Oh.
Chris: Don't worry, I'm not gonna claim that I wrestle like a God.
Jessi: Oh good. I was scared there for a second that you would.
Chris Wilkins Fact: Chris used to claim that he wrestles like a God, but Jessi didn't like it, and broke up with him.
Chris: I'm done with that stage in my life.
Jessi: Good. I'm gonna get some more sleep. Wake me up before we land.
Chris: OK, I will. Love you.
Jessi: Love you too.
With that, Jessi puts back on the headphones and turns over, her eyes closed. Chris looks at her for a second before reopening the magazine and reading it some more. A few hours later...
Are you ready for it? Can you handle it? It's time. Time for the first-ever Chris Wilkins promo in NCW. I'm gonna set the scene here. It's dark. You can barely make out a figure, who appears to be sitting down. As the cameras inch closer, we see that we're in a locker room and there is a figure sitting down next to the lockers. He has his head bowed down, his arms laying on his knees, and his hands clasped together in front of him. He doesn't have on a shirt, however, he does have a black mesh shorts with a Nike logo on the lower left side. On his feet are white Nike shoes. He looks up at he camera and it's none other then, Chris Wilkins.
Chris: A World title. It's why we're all here, isn't it? Some of us have tasted that gold before. Some of us haven't. We all want it. We all crave it. It takes us in. It's all we think about. We lose our friends, our family, our goals, our life's, we lose everything going after this one thing. A World title. Being champion of the World. I wish I could say that I'm one of those who could say that he's fought through it all and won it and bathed in its glory, but, I cannot. I have never tasted World title gold. I've come close. Closer than many have come. But to come so close and lose, it's even worse then never getting a shot. It was in my hands. I had it. I was gonna be champion of the World...and it was taken from me. I lost. Never to be champion. It's cruel. The Wrestling Gods didn't want me to be champion of the World. But, it's still my goal. It's everybody's ultimate goal. If you can find a wrestler who doesn't want to win a World title, and who has never won one before, then I'll show you the biggest liar in the world.
I haven't fought a match in nearly three months. It's been over three months since I've been on TV. That's a long time for a professional wrestler. People forget who you are. You forget who you are. We wrestlers crave the spotlight. Once we've been on TV, we need to be on TV. For me, it's a highlight of being a wrestler. As long as I'm on TV, I don't care if I'm winning or losing. When that first NCW show opens up, and my music hits, you're gonna see a show. You won't see no flashy moves. You'll see a damn good wrestling match. And I will come out on top. The last time I was on TV, I lost to a rookie. You know how that made me feel? It sucks, it really does. But, I'm here in NCW to forget about all that and start new.
Davey Ortega. I have no idea who you are. I know you're cocky. I know that you're a supposed "NCW Legend." Guess what? I'm a TNW legend! You know what TNW is? Do you care? Hell no! This is the new NCW! It's time for the new guys to step up to the plate, knock off the old guard and show the world that even if you are a legend here, there's always a better legend out there. It's hard to know what to say. I can be like everybody else and claim that I'm the best here, that I'm gonna kick everybody's ass and become the NCW World champion, and that I'm the greatest...ahh, you get the point. Or I could just repeat myself over and over again. Or I could tell you what I've done in the world of professional wrestling. But, who wants to hear that? Not me. Not you. I could tell you how I'm gonna take down Davey Ortega, tie him up in so many different ways, break him in half, and have the referee raise my hand in victory. But you won't believe me. You don't know who I am. But, you know who Ortega is. And if he says that he's gonna beat me, I bet that you will believe him. So, why should I even try to get you on my side? Nothing I can say will win you over. Unless you really hate Ortega, but then you're just going for whoever is facing him. The only way I can get you on my side is to go out there, be the damn good technical wrestler that I am, and make Ortega tap out. And once I do make Ortega tap out, what happens? You'll all just say that it was a fluke. That I'm a nobody and Ortega is a legend. And I'll have to go up against the next wrestler in this tournament, and beat him too. And the next guy. And the next. Until I become the first NCW World champion. And it's gonna happen. And it's gonna start with Davey Ortega. Don't believe me? That's OK, nobody ever believes that little guy. I'll just have to prove you wrong. Davey Ortega, I'm gonna break you. Don't feel too bad, it's gonna happen to a lot of people in NCW and you're just the first.
Chris bows his head again but slowly stands up and walks out of camera view.
