Chapter 12 - Therapy
(Gyms. A place that athletes and fitness people use to get away from the hum drum of what they may be feeling during their personal lives, and get back to working on their professional life. It is here we find Falcon, pummeling the crap out of a heavy bag with fist, foot, elbow and knee. His headphones prevent him from hearing the whispers of the other gym patrons. They could be whispering about many things. Wondering if he is who they think he is. Wondering why he's being such a dick to everyone. But, headphones prevent whistles as well as whispers. And being such distracted, he was unaware of the womans presence until she was behind him. But the whistles showed he was the only one who didn't see her walk in. Serenity leaned closer, taking the headphone from his right ear, carefully to avoid being struck by a flailing limb.)
Serenity: Food's here.
(She set the box down on a bench as he removed his headphones and ceased his workout. The box contained a three hamburgers from a local diner, and a twenty ounce gatorade from a local seven-eleven. She drew a McDonalds salad from a bag and neatly opened it. Falcon looked at it, then shook his head.)
Falcon: Processed food? That stuff will expand your waistline you know.
(She looked down at her slim waist, then at him, then the box.)
Serenity: And that won't? Must be two or three thousand calories in there.
Falcon: Local diners don't use mass packaged processed beef, far more healthier than anything you'd get at good old Mickey D's. Besides, I need the protein. Helps me grow up big and strong.
(She laughs. Making her laugh always brought Falcon an unexpected degree of pleasure. He sat down, taking the first hamburger out of the box, finding the packets of hot sauce contained within, and slathering one over the flame broiled beef. She neatly covered her salad with dressing, and began eating.)
Falcon: Now.. this.. (swallows) is good stuff.
Serenity: Glad you like it. Took me over an hour to find a place.
Falcon: I appreciate it.
Serenity: You're welcome.
(They eat in silence for several moments, each taking a glance at the other when they think the other is not looking. Finally, she breaks the silence.)
Serenity: So.. it all ends this week, huh?
Falcon: You know, in these last three weeks, I didn't think you actually watched wrestling.
Serenity: I do and I don't. But, I've made it a habit as of late. It helps me get to know who you are.
Falcon: Well, we could also use the ratings boost I guess. But, the answer to your question is.. yes, this week it finally ends.
Serenity: You don't sound so happy.
Falcon: Nothing to be happy about. This plan started out fine, but now, it's just like we're going through the motions because it's the only thing left to do. Winning this match changes nothing, losing changes nothing.
Serenity: How do you mean?
Falcon: Well, we win.. what happens? We continue on, and they pretend to fight us for their righteousness, and at the end, nothing changes. We lose, they go back to being the way they've always been, being the way that caused us to bring about the changes in the first place, and nothing changes. There will still be stupid egotistical pricks like every member of the Resistance, either way.
Serenity: I've been trying to see everything from the outside, but as far as I can see, there aren't any good guys.
Falcon: There never was. They were supposed to become the good guys. They were supposed to set aside all their crappy little problems and stop us. But what did they do? Nothing. The only thing that changed was the way they said the same things. Instead of saying, "I'll beat you because I'm better." it became "I'll beat you because I'm better AND my cause is better." They played up the hero story, by covering over the former villains with wallpaper. That's all. And now, here we are, stuck in the mud, the tires spinning, but nobody is going anywhere.
(Falcon pauses, chewing his hamburger thoughtfully. She finishes her salad, and places the empty plastic bowl back in the bag.)
Serenity: So, you're going to throw this match then?
Falcon: Me? Never. I'm simply going to start beating whoever is in the ring until they can't get up anymore. They want to run their mouths, fine. They want to jump around and whine about the way they were treated, fine. But they have no idea. They think that staying in a miserable little hotel room is suffering, they've become so soft by what they've been handed, they forgot the road they traveled to get here. We took their priveledges in an attempt to make them realize how lucky they were. But instead they wandered around, complaining that they deserved better, convienently forgetting all the people they stepped on and over to get here. But, it didn't matter. They couldn't see the light if I blinded them with it, because they're crushing egos blinded them already. Steve was the closest thing to being saved, and even he refused to see where he went wrong.
Serenity: But, he thanked you didn't he?
Falcon: You can't have it both ways. You cannot condemn me for interfering, then thank me for it in the next breath. Anger overrides sincerity.
Serenity: So, he didn't mean the thank you?
Falcon: Absolutely not, he merely did it because it was the polite and respectful thing to do. Even now, I'll bet he still feels like he didn't need me to help him change, that suddenly one day he was going to wake up and EUREKA, be the reformed Steve Awesome you see before you. It's sad really. Almost as sad as the government thinking that you can't drink responsibly at 20, and yet can at 21. There is no magical revelation. It's all a damn lie. Told a thousand times until the stupid sheep believe it.
Serenity: Does that mean you're going after him again?
Falcon: No. He wants me out of his life, fine, I'm out. He can sit there and rot for all I care. I'm tired of helping people who cry out for it on the inside, but shove back when you try to do whats best for them. As far as I'm concerned, Steve Awesome can go fall into a pool covered in oil and lit ablaze. My hand won't be there to save him. Then he'll finally have his magical revelation and know why what he did was wrong.
Serenity: What about AJ, or the Karns?
Falcon: AJ is going to get what's coming to him. Aside from myself, he knew Angel better than anyone. He walked into the Lions den with a side of beef hanging from his neck and didn't give a damn either way. Now, he's done what he wanted. He comforted a woman in her time of need, now he needs to back off and let them work it out. If she chooses Angel, he needs to man up and accept it. If she chooses AJ, then well, he can accept those conditions. But he won't, he'll stand between them, all in a ill advised attempt to "keep the peace" and he'll get hurt. But, the sooner he's lying broken in a gutter, the better. I've never cared for AJ Phoenix.
Serenity: I'm sure the feeling is mutual.
Falcon: I don't care about that either. Our hatred, whether mutual or not, is really meaningless in the grand scheme of things. And as far as the Karns go, they can both go jump off a bridge. MGK first, and then JFK would do it just to say he could do it better. From what I see, they are both living embodiment of that old adage if something is difficult then it's not worth doing.
Serenity: Rather harsh, don't you think?
Falcon: It's true. Put either one of them in a match against one of us, or Kristoff Bates, or Harold and all of a sudden the coloring of their face drains and they look like cancer patients. So scared that it looks like just screaming Bang at them will cause them to drop dead of heart failure. Then they start looking for an excuse. The match didn't matter, or they had turf toe, or they forgot to mail their porn back to Netflix. Always something that kept them from being 100%, because as they are so fond of pointing out, nobody can beat a 100% JFK. One Karn is a talentless hack, and the other has his head so far up his brothers ass he's never seen the son. They can both go die in a chemical fire.
Serenity: Have you ever considered counseling?
Falcon: What for?
Serenity: You seem to have a lot of pent up anger.
Falcon: You listen to the same five guys tell you how awesome they are and ignore all the facts that say otherwise and see how happy go lucky you feel. It's like being back in high school again. I just want this whole ordeal to be over so I can forget about it as soon as possible.
Serenity: Come on.
(She stands up, holding out here hand.)
Falcon: What?
Serenity: Let's go back to the hotel. You need to work out all that aggression. Plus work off all those calories.
(Falcon chuckles a bit, shaking his head. Then stands.)
Falcon: You are going to be the death of me.
Serenity: Then I'll just make sure you die happy.
Falcon: I think you're all the therapy I need.
(Fin.)

Overbearing panic attack
Entrenching my veins
In an hour I'll be ok
I pray this pain
Will go away permanently someday
I've seen more than
I should have to
I've seen this on my own
This song is a
Poem to myself
It helps me to live
In case of Fire
Break the glass
And move on into your own[/b]
Reoccuring drowning effect
Entrenching my vein
I hope you'll be ok
Someday so I can say
That you moved on in the right way
We've seen this and
We've breathed this in
We've lived this on our own
This song is a
Poem to myself
It helps me to live
In case of[/color] Fire
Break the glass
And move on into your own[/b]
