*The scene opens backstage after Collision goes off the air, The Ace and Kathy are walking down a corridor and presumably out of the arena...*
Kathy: Listen, babe I'm sorry, I know you must be pretty upset about losing to Falcon again last night...
Upset? Upset, no, why should I be upset? It's only a match right? I've got less dedicated piddly asses telling me each and every week that I shouldn't take this game so seriously, that I should let each and every loss I suffer slide like water off a duck's back...
Kathy: I know, I also know how much beating Falcon this time round meant to you...but honey, maybe you should put it all into context, so that you don't lose sight of the bigger picture...
Bigger picture? I'm being forced out of frame by nCw management now who think I've had enough shots at that title, and we all know why they feel that way. They don't want me to pull a Lance Ryan, they don't trust me to carry the company on my shoulders again - no, not a Champion whose first reign was only half of nCw's golden goose, Ryan... I have that dream, you know, that dream of being as good as Ryan if not even better...
Kathy: I know, honey, and maybe one day you'll have your chance, you'll get another shot at that belt, I know you will...all you have to do is keep being that dedicated veteran that you are. Keep being that guy who just works through anything and everything that they throw at you and they'll soon realise that you're the only one left in this company who has a legitimate claim to being better than Lance, I promise, you'll see...
Since when did The Blonde Stallion become the neglected workhorse of nCw? For nearly two years now I've been here, competed week in and week out, hardly took any time off and now they just want to cast me aside so someone who is stupid enough to fall for Adam's games and consequently get his ass handed to him seven days before Reborn gets the next shot. I'm the only one worthy of that shot - I have unfinished business with Adam, surely that's a bigger draw than some dude who got everyone's attention by trying to stick his sausage in another man's hotdog bun? Maybe I should go around to Shelly's too...
*Kathy looks at her husband with disgust, but The Ace doesn't seem to notice as he is too absorbed in his rant against nCw, he never took his losses well. Not very well indeed...*
I mean come on, I know I can beat Adam, you know that too, right?
Kathy: Well, honey...actually...
What?
Kathy: Well, all I'm saying is that maybe you shouldn't look at it as the fact that you've never beaten Adam one on one, but more like the situation between Jack Hammond and yourself, he's never beaten you one on one either - the difference is he doesn't obsess over it, he just moves on, like you should, honey...it's not the end of the world that you haven't been able to beat Adam or Falcon one on one yet. Take a lesson from AJ, for the longest time he was in your situation, he could not beat Angel but eventually he did...
Oh so now you're an AJ fan too? Do I have to worry about losing my wife to the great AJ now too? Like Angel lost Shelly or I lost that bitch years ago?
*Kathy knew who 'the bitch' he was referring to was, she was another woman, another love in another place and another time who had left him and gone on to marry AJ instead of him. Kathy didn't know if AJ was still married to her and neither did her husband, the last thing she wanted to do was open that wound in her husband's heart again. A wound that she had finally healed after so long...*
Kathy: No! That's not what I'm saying, what I mean is that you will beat both Adam and Falcon eventually, I know you can, but for right now, you can't let that distract you from whoever they got you facing at the PPV next week...
I don't care who it is, all I know is I could have beaten Falcon last night if you had been a bit more helpful, you know, like you used to be...
*Kathy stops and grabs her husband by the arm, turning him around to face her, looking less than pleased about her husband's scornful remark...*
Kathy: Don't you dare blame this on me Jake, we were supposed to be the good guys in this match, good guys don't cheat and besides I was afraid, you know what he did to me last time I got into the ring trying to save your ass from him. He put me in a damn coma! A coma, Jake!
Oh yes, now I remember, how silly of me to forget. He took my fearless Kat and left me with just a pussy in her place...
Kathy: How dare you? How dare you patronize me Jacob Conway?
Because I'm not a good guy? Why should I be? The civil war ended, I picked the wrong side in retrospect, I have no reason to be the good guy anymore, I'm not fighting for The Resistance anymore, I'm just fighting for respect - and its about time that I beat it out of somebody, starting at Reborn...
*Kathy storms off upset by her husband's careless behaviour, and The Ace is about to give chase after her, but is halted as his cellphone rings...*
*The Ace takes his cellphone out of his jeans pocket and sees that it is Chris Diamond calling. He flips it open and puts it to his ear...*
So tell me Diamond, who am I facing at Reborn?
*The Ace listens for a moment, and laughs*
Really? You are aware that all the fans already know how this business works, last I checked we were both faces, and on the same team a few weeks ago. Real genius booking there Chris...you're damn right I'm upset, save it Chris...you and I both know that politics governs this place as well as any other wrestling promotion. I've been around long enough to know when I'm being given a raw deal. Face versus face, friend against friend isn't exactly going to be the marquee match of the Pay Per View is it? There's no dynamic, no history, nothing there to keep the fans interested...
*The Ace listens again as Diamond explains something else to him*
What? Are you f**kin' kidding me? You want me to go from main eventing the last three pay per views to curtain jerking this one? You may aswell have made it the main event for Wired, people won't give a sh*t about this match man! Way to piss all over my main event credentials with the most nonsensical booking since Joe Everyman got put in that four way ladder match for the nCw World Championship at Last Stand last year!
*The Ace listens again*
Yes, I know he has improved since then, and somehow he now has a chance to be the X-Division Champ, but still come on, it's Joe for crying out loud - do you really thiink he would have gotten passed me if I was in the tournament?
*Diamond talks some more and The Ace sighs, defeated*
Yes, yes, okay, I'll focus on MGK...anything I have to do to prove to Leonard that I deserve another shot at the nCw World Heavyweight Championship...bye bye now...
*Without waiting for an answer, The Ace flips his phone shut and puts it back in his pocket...*
Douche! Steve gets a National Championship shot and a Hall of Fame induction after he loses the World Title, Jack Hammond gets an X-Division Title shot, even Jason - the man I dominated in a steel cage - gets an Xtreme shot, teamed with JackHass no less! What do I get? Nothing, no title shot, no contender slot, just the chance to beat up on a guy who I have nothing but respect for. What can I say to the man apart from we've both owned Mark Evil recently and kicked the crap out of Dirty Deal - if I were a bad guy I could remind him that I was the one who got the winning pinfall, and say I carried his ass, but I can't. I'm the good guy - that's the role I chose, that's the guy they all expect me to play, but by God, it sucks all kinds of ass!
*The Ace sighs as he walks passed the nCw merchandise stand and notices a huge poster bearing his old logo when he was the super bad ass, sledgehammer swinging heel.
Those were the days when he did not give a crap about anyone or anything, he recalled with great nostalgia...*
Gee, I miss that guy...
Merchandise Salesman: So do I...I say you bring him back, the whole goody goody thing is overrated. You're so much better as a heel because you pull off the guy everybody loves to hate so damn well...
*The Ace grins, it was true part of him missed feeding off everybody's hatred, he was thrust more in the spotlight as a bad guy. He had even got the better of Adam Knite - good times, good times. As a face, he was overlooked and ignored and forced back down the ladder of success.
To justify a turn now, he needed to do something spectacular, something unexpected, dupe some poor unsuspecting guy who everybody admired. He needed to capture the spirit of this company and rip out the beating heart of nCw for the world to behold.
A target, a catalyst, but who? Who would be the one to go down in flames and rebirth the Face Of Satan, surely not MGK? He respected him too much, didn't he?
The Ace said his goodbyes to the salesman like the good guy he was expected to be, polite, well mannered, curteous, boring. The Ace left the arena and walked towards his beloved Porsche 911 GT3 by which an annoyed Kathy stood, waiting with arms folded across her chest, a lot calmer because of the fresh air outside. Kathy asked the one question she was sure would put her husband in a better mood...*
Kathy: So who are you facing at Reborn?
MGK. It seems we must put our friendship aside this Sunday, the mutual respect we have needs to give way for business. I have nothing personal against him, after all it was his brother who dropped the ball a couple of weeks ago in a tag team match, I can hardly hold him accountable for that can I? Especially when we won our first ever match together as partners the week before...
Kathy: True. Any special stipulations, title shots?
Not unless you count curtain jerking to be a stipulation...
Kathy: What? Are they insane? How can you go from main eventing the last three months of Pay Per Views to being in the opening contest?
That's what I said, but Diamond wouldn't have any of it, and I guess Leonard doesn't want his future son in law's main event jeopardised.
Kathy: Do you really think Leonard would make business personal? I mean he doesn't seem too thrilled with Adam right now...
On camera yes, but you know as well as I do that's usually just half the story. Most of these piddly asses would backstab their own mothers to get ahead through backstage politics, who really knows what the Fox Knite coalition is really about - they could be as corrupt as the Revolution. Think about it, pitching friends against friends so that they destroy one another for nothing.
*The Ace opens his car door as Kathy gets in the other side. Both put on their seat belts as The Ace brings his car to life...*
Kathy: At least you weren't booked on Wired...
Yeah, the only reason they didn't is because they knew I'd get upset about it. Instead of realising that every dog has his day, they decided to throw this dog a f**kin' bone by actually booking me on the pay per view so I couldn't complain about having no direction all month. They booked me against MGK against all logic simply because he was just another talent they had no direction for. I don't know about MGK, but I sure as hell don't need to be patronized by this company just because I'm a good guy who they think will take anything they choose to throw at me straight up the arse. I'll tell you this much Kat, this company needs to be reminded just who in the hell they're dealing with!
*With that The Ace pushes play on his CD player and drives off, with considerable tyre squeal, fuelled by the music that now fills the car...*
Kathy: Listen, babe I'm sorry, I know you must be pretty upset about losing to Falcon again last night...

Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you
The odds will betray you
And I will replace you
You can't deny the prize it may never fulfill you
It longs to kill you

Ahahahahaha!
Ooooh, Devon,
Won't go to heaven.
She's just another lost soul, about to be mine again.
Leave her, we will receive her.
It is beyond your control, will you ever meet again?
Devon,
One of Eleven,
Who had been rendered unwhole.
As a little child, she was taken and then forsaken.
You will remember it all.
Let it blow your mind again.
