I shoulda made this post before but...I guess I can do it a month late now that maybe it's finally out in every ****ing Best Buy and FYE in the US.
Psychostick's new album, Sandwich...where the **** do I begin?
It rules...it is METAL...and the album is mostly songs(humorous songs) about food.
Track Listing:
Metal? - Opening track...just...a track about opening the album and being metal.
Caffeine - A song about coffee, with more time changes than the worldwide switchover to Daylight Saving's Time...it just...owns. One of my favorite on the album cuz I LOVE COFFEE!
Shower - I actually have made this my official shower tune now. Cuz...it tells me what to do, and how awesome showering is. I guess it was inspired by touring and the lack of showers they get.
A Lesson in Modesty - A skit about how they should be modest..but being the greatest band ever...well...they can't hold on long.
P is the Best Letter - Yeah, a song about how awesome they are, P, A, J,and R are covered, the band name and all the band member's names, another good one.
Minimum Rage - Hate your job? Hate working at (Insert crappy fast-food or service industry job here)? Than this song is for YOU! It's about working at like BK or McDonald's but...we all hate our jobs sometime.
Don't Eat my Food - Kinda self-explanatory what the song is about. It's a great one about being in a band...or...having roomates...or friends...that eat all your food when you have no money.
The Hunger Within - The best song about food on the album. It's a sequel to Don't Eat My Food...as soon as you run out you start thinking about how little you have. Ramen...Stale cheerios...just...classic
Grocery Escape Plan - A song about grocery shopping when you have money and they don't have the right milk...and stuff.
Too Many Food - A skit about how there are too many songs about food on the album...but it IS called Sandwich so...
THIS IS NOT A SONG IT'S A SANDWICH - The "Title Track" of the album. This is not a song or album...it's a SANDWICH!
Girl Directions - Need I say more than "GIVE ME THE GPS!"
Orange - The song doesn't make much sense sometimes...but it is another great tune, but possibly one of the most underrated on the whole album.
Beer Part 2 - Skit about throwing up after too much beer
Do You Want a Taco? - Short song about...uh...tacos.
Attempt at Something Serious - Skit that preludes the next song...also a hint at new member Jake's previous history in more serious bands.
#1 Radio $ingle - Too damn catchy to NOT get on the radio...all I'm saying.
Va-Jay-Jay - A song about...Vaginas...that is like 9 seconds long...sorta like "No Pun Intended" from their debut album which was only 6 seconds
Die...a lot - More metal song than the rest of the album...cuz it talks about killing people...
You've Got Male Enhancement - Spam sucks...so they wrote a song about it, and...getting male enhancement emails.
Passive Vengeance - Another Metal Song, about vengeance in odd ways, followed by a short skit that leads into the 373 Thank You's
373 Thank You's - No new riffs, all riffs re-used from prior two albums with lyrics featuring fan names and business names that helped create the album by donating their hard-earned money. Look for my brother's name Tim Stahl in like the first 5 mins of this 14 min song. It was originally supposed to be like 400...but...they couldn't get enough people to donate so they wound up doing a short local tour(Southwestern US) to finish getting funds to make this album
OUTTAKES!!1 - Yeah...they usually put outtakes on the album, almost as funny as the actual songs, too.
We Ran Out of CD Space - This is actually a song...probably my favorite on the album. Cuz of this lyric "What if the world was made of other worlds combined into a world just like the world you started with? What if another world then ate the world made out of Doughnuts making all the doughnut people pissed?"
Overall Analysis - Funniest Metal album Ever 5/5 for hilarity and 4.8/5 for heavy riffage
It's not for everyone, I admit...but give it a shot. They got a few tracks from the new album on their myspace here www.myspace.com/psychostick And they also have all their prior two albums up as well.
So overall...go listen, and buy it if you can. These guys are very original, and extremely awesome. I've been listening to them since like late 06, early 07 when BEER! came out on the radio, but they are still a very small-sized band that does it's best to tour nationally. Support them, cuz they do need it.
