Just saw that the LA times confirmed this. Michael Jackson Pronnounced dead at 6:15 PM EST. As much bad press as he's gotten it's still a huge loss to the music world.

Huge Loss?
Last time he was relevent and had a good album was the mid 90s...since then he's had a lot of bad press that virtually ruined his career save the die-hard fans. And after the alleged things he did to kids...let's just say he's going to probably be forgiven for all his "sins" by the public now. Save a few who still think he, like OJ, should have been convicted.

He may not have been a major player recently, but his impact on the music industry is limitless...Without his music, a lot of current muscicians may not have gotten into the business.

I couldn't believe it myself when I heard it, but the impact he left on the music world will be felt for a long time and it's terrible that he died so young.

Considering his last "hit album" with really good music was the mid 90s and a lot of the bad publicity was keeping him down...I'd say the impact was mostly his early stuff...and yes I include the Jackson 5 to that. Something just changed after the whole "Black or White" thing...maybe it was cuz the videos weren't these sprawling masterpieces that went with the song and/or left you with a visual image you keep every time you hear the tune. I'm sorry, but every time I hear Thriller I wanna zombie dance..SOOO bad. And speaking of Bad...I wanna get a gang together and do a big mob scene dance number to that one too. But considering he was only 50 I'm gonna be holding out for an autopsy to see what caused it...cuz it's not often an "otherwise healthy" 50 year old just suddenly drops dead. Usually drugs attribute, though rumors about ill health were "unfounded" a month ago, who knows if that's actually what happened.

Considering we still talk about his stuff from the 60s, all the way to now (he did release album in '01-'00), "ABC" all the way to " Rock My World" and seeing as he was working on projects currently, it is safe to say that he was the hardest working man in Music (respect to James Brown, obviously)

I know all his hits thanks to some girls that played his album at work everyday for two months straight. That eventually drove me nuts. But after a year of not hearing him and then hearing his stuff again, it was all right. The kid stuff was not cool, and if he did do that, then he probably deserved what he got, but if he didn't, then that sucks. But he can only be judged by God now, so I don't care to figure out where he belongs. But his Doc that gave him too much pain medication is going to get sued and/or be killed by a crazy fan.
I think the important question is, do the Beatles rights go back to the living Beatles now?

I think the important question is, do the Beatles rights go back to the living Beatles now? Probably stay with MJ's estate which goes to his 3 kids...which will probably be managed by MJ's dad or mom till they are old enough to do it themselves(I think the oldest isn't even a teen yet) But yes, his music was good...though he never WROTE any of it himself...most of the music was written by Quincey Jones, who is ****ing amazing at writing songs. But without his innovative choreography and ideas, he probably never woulda had the impact he did. So even if he didn't write the 80s hits, he performed them and helped make those landmark vids...especially Thriller.
