Memphis, Tennessee. A town that is so rich with wrestling history that it is practically ingrained into the DNA of every citizen in this town. That’s why I’ve always loved coming here. The scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly and the history here is unbelievable. I was shocked when I arrived at the address that I was given by management. They put me up in a hotel, which usually never happens. I refused it at first, but it was paid for in full. It’s not a four star place by any means, but something better than a one star fifty dollar a night room is good every now and again.
Scene: The lobby of the local Marriot Grand Marquis hotel in Memphis. People are coming and going regularly as their day goes on. Chris Brock is sitting in a leather chair, reading the latest issue of nCw magazine. On the cover is a picture of Rob Diamond with caption “Rob Diamond: Greatest X-division champion in history?” Brock is silent for a few moments before he closes the magazine and looks to the camera in front of him.
Brock: They say that history is written by the winners. From the Greeks, to the Romans; even the United States is guilty of winning a confrontation and then writing the history that will be taught to future generations while leaving out some key notes that would otherwise completely change the story. Much like the current X-division champion, Rob Diamond has done in recent weeks. You see, you leave out the key details of Rob’s rise to power, so to speak, and it makes this story seem cut and dry. Besides being the most racist person that I have ever met, Rob Diamond looks to be the perfect picture of a champion. In this case, however, if you polish a turd, it’s still a turd.
Brock stands and begins to walk through the lobby. The camera follows as he continues.
Brock: I’ve never bought into the hype that is Rob Diamond. When he cheated to win the X-division title at Picture Perfect, I seemed to be the only one that saw the truth. I decided that instead of letting it slide that I would stand up and demand that something be done about it. I made my stand and it got into Rob’s head as easily as Falcon did. He gave me a shot at the X-Division title that he holds so guarded and he knew going into that match that he was never going to give me a fair shot. That was probably Falcon or Spike telling you what to do because I don’t think you have the ability to pull off something that creative.
Brock walks into an elevator and waits as the door closes.
Brock: So here we are now; in a situation where Rob’s brother Chris had to step in and try to make things right. I appreciate the chance Chris and I will do whatever I have to in order to make sure that at the end of the night, Rob Diamond leaves Memphis without the X-division title.
The Elevator stops and opens on the 10th floor as Brock walks out and takes a left. He makes his way down the hall and reaches room 10-101. He opens the door and enters the room, turning on the lamp on the way in.
Brock: And as I said earlier, I have nothing but respect for Xavier. I welcome the competition that he brings and am looking forward to seeing what he can bring out of me in the ring. No matter what happens at Fallout, I can promise this much. I intend to rewrite history and tell the whole story about Rob Diamond.
There is knock at the door. Brock looks over quizzically at the door. He walks over and opens the door.
Brock: Danielle? What are you doing here?!
Fade to black.
