When I first came to nCw the first championship I challenged for was the National Championship, it was the beginning of a meteoric rise to fame and the dawning of an era, the Spike Kane era. It seems only fitting that in my quest to restart this era I come across the National Title once more, and its owner Steve Awesome.....
Oh joy....
Oh joy....
We open up on the scene of Spike Kane sitting crossed legged at the edge of a grave site. The sun shines down on this nice summers day as Spike has his head bowed to the side tending to a young baby, clearly baby Xander.
Spike: Here we go Xander, this is where your big brother Zell stays. Your daddy comes here very often to check up and talk to your big brother. It’s been almost three years since he was taken from us you know? I never thought I’d ever get to be happy again. Then I met your mommy and now look at us. We have you, and I know your big brother will be smiling down at us...
Spike reaches over to the grave and picks up a worn and weathered chess piece. He puts it in his back before taking another one out and replacing it.
Spike: Milo told me he’d do it himself but he’s otherwise occupied at the moment. Said he’d come and visit you though, that’ll be nice right? Dave told me he’d been by recently, that was nice of him. So what do you think Zell? What do you think of your baby brother Xander?
Spike lifts Xander out of his little chair and onto his lap. The 6 months or so year old baby looks up at his father completely amazed by his surroundings. He reaches for his father’s face and Spike simply smiles.
Spike: It seems my life has balanced out nowadays. I’m not hearing those crazy voices or seeing things anymore. Brad threatened Conrad to stay away from me, and things have really calmed down since. Even the wrestling has turned around. You know I held a world title not too long ago? That was fun, like the good old days. Got a match with Steve Awesome this week though, you might remember him from the XHeff. That will defiantly be a hard match...
Spike leans back as Xander curls up against him. A slight gust of wind blows through the area, Xander’s baby grow ruffles in the wind and it makes the baby laugh a little. Spike’s lip quivers a second as he tries to make sense of what just happened.
Spike: Zell? ....thank you son.
Tears slide down Spike’s face, a mixture of both happiness and sadness as he climbs to his feet. He looks down at his sons grave.
Spike: Thank you for allowing me to be happy again.....I’ll show you my thanks by going out there on Sunday night at Fallout and winning the National Championship again.....for you son.
Spike wipes his eyes with his arm as he carefully carries his son Xander away into the distance towards the car as we fade away on the lasting image of the chess piece on the gravesite.
Steve Awesome is at first glance everything that The Forgotten stands against. You see as much respect as I have for Steve and trust me I DO have respect for him.....he is your typical poster boy. You know the type, the kind of douche bag at high school who always got on well with the jocks yet diss them behind their backs, stay cool with the geeks yet never spend time with them. Hang out with the stoners just to score some free weed and always have one of those higher social status girlfriends that hates him secretly.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, he’s a douche.
Now don’t get me wrong Steve Awesome is one hell of a superstar, and an amazing athlete. In the ring he is one of the best nCw has EVER had. I know this because I’ve watched Steve Awesome develop over the years, from being cannon fodder for the really lacking hardcore division in the old Xtreme Hardcore place, to challenging for the World Title along a protégé of mine, Kevin Hardaway in the “rebellious” Vortex federation.
I think you should have won by the way.
However Steve didn’t really hit it big until he came to nCw, until his rise to fame and glory really hit its peak. Some people would claim that it was partly to do with Trent Helms. Me personally? I think Steve carried Trent to be brutally honest with you. But the thing is, you are extremely similar to Trent though Steve. You thrive off of pop culture references and what’s hot or not at the time. Hell it wouldn’t surprise me if Hot Topic had their own special Steve Awesome line of clothes, they could put it next to their Jimmy Zane line....not that it ever sells.
But I digress, it is not the topic I started on. Yes Steve rose to fame, he has done great things in nCw, former World Champion, one half of arguably the most popular and a candidate for the best tag teams in nCw history. Yet Steve, a lot like me...is not finished yet, no not by a long shot. Yeah, we’re both Hall of Famers, we could retire and live off the nCw royalties if we wanted to. I’m sure the Fox family would pay us a wealthy pension due to our contributions to the company of theirs. In fact, the Fox company would probably pay me to get me off the damn air, because I keep screwing up everything they try to do....just like I’m going to screw up Steve Awesome.
Destroy that pretty face.
The thing is? Yes, looking at you....you are everything that we stand against but the problem is you actually have talent. It’s a hard thing to get over because it would be so much easier for me to sit here and list the reason why I hate you, why I want to destroy you, and why I must take the National Title away from you.
But I can’t.
Because if I did, it would simply be a lie. Contrary to popular belief....I don’t lie, or I at least try not to. You truly are a formidable opponent Steve Awesome and I am more than thrilled to be fighting you at Fallout for a chance to become a two time National Champion. Getting into that ring with you once more ensures a great match, a potential show stealer, even if I’m not fully healed from my history making fight with Dark Prophet. I stand here, gracious in defeat acknowledging something that most people would gloat about, but for some reason I don’t think you will.
I have never beaten you.
It’s something I realised the moment the triple threat match with Hammond and Everyman was announced. I never obsessed over it, I have no burning desire to change it either, no...it’s just something I kept in the back of my mind, something to keep me going, to spur me on and make me go that one step further. I’m no fool, nobody expected me to defeat Hammy and Everyman, everybody expected me to fail, fall flat on my face turn tail and run away. I’m not stupid, and I’m not deaf either. I hear the rumblings backstage, I hear the rumours spread around this place. How many times I’ll have to say it I’m not too sure, but it’s true.
I’m here till the end of my career.
Whether that is tomorrow or two years from now is down to fate. However, no defeat, no opponent is going to make me walk away from nCw. You see I put my head down, ignored all the d*ckheads that flood through this great federation and just did what I did best. I’ve suffered two losses since my return, one to Falcon and a DQ to Rob Diamond. Two members of The Forgotten I’m sure you’ve noticed.
I beat Rob and Falcon too, with Xavier on my side.
I beat Davey Ortega in a version of an Xtreme dream rematch.
I defeated both Jack Hammond and Joe Everyman to become number one contender.
I destroyed Dark Prophet in a real Xtreme dream rematch, again.
My point being, I’m on a bit of a roll here. I’m finally proving the naysayers wrong, AGAIN. I’m sure you’ve noticed in my lengthy career Steve, that doing such, is what I thrive off. Remember 06? The Rumble? King of the Hill? Night of Champions? Not a soul believed I could do it, but I did. I proved them all wrong just like I did at Transgression 1, when I toppled the oh so mighty Lance Ryan, single handedly destroying No Warning Shot and proclaiming myself the new ruler of nCw. Things have changed since then, and you know what? I want those days back, so I plan on doing just that, I plan on bringing those days back. Hell I must be making some kind of impact....I come back to nCw then we have what?
Dark Prophet.
Davey Ortega.
Lance Ryan.
And now apparently my very own brother has been seen around here.
Just like usual people are trying to cash in on my success, but look at it, who do you REALLY see surviving? My brother maybe if he sticks to his guns, but the others? Puh-lease. Oh...and Dark Prophet getting a number one contenders match? Do not think that went un noticed.
F*CK DARK PROPHET! I destroyed him and he gets a damn number one contenders match for the World Title? If that isn’t proof of how f*cked up the nCw management is I don’t know what possibly could? Probably KLB somehow getting a World Title shot but eh....let’s not fret too much, because my boy Falcon will take whatever is left of that useless POET and clean up capturing the number one spot. Whereas I will lock horns with you Steve.....everything on the line.
Pride.
Guts.
Passion.
And gold.
I’m anxious Steve, I can feel the gold being strapped around my waist right now. It feels good, it feels like I’m right back where I belong.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, he’s a douche.
