{Father Karras sits on the steps of his church. His fingers are drumming on his crossed arms, his toe tapping annoyedly on the concrete. He looks up, about to say something. Then looks aside, trying to reign in his words before they fly out, unable to be taken back. See, Father Karras thinks before he speaks to make sure he says what he means and not just anything. Finally, he sighs, and begins.}
Karras: I believe I covered this last week. It's EASY for anyone to just quote scripture. The bible is a popular book, most popular book in the world. Every hotel room has a copy, mostly of the King James version. So it's not unusual for people against me to start spouting off random quotes with little to no understanding of what they mean. Mac Bane did it, and look what happened to him. So let's begin.
What about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?
John 10:36
Karras: See, you accuse me of being a false prophet, a blasphemer. I know such words are beyond the imcomparable idiot that you are, but that's basically everything you've said. See, I am a man of God, Daredevil. It's my job to point out your sins, it's my job to point out your flaws and your failings so you can fix them. So, in retrospective, I "judge" you to help you. But you, you would have the world believe me to be some overbearing nutcase. But as I said, it's quite easy to quote scripture, it's another matter entirely to know what it means. God's forgiveness is infinite, as is His patience, but you would waste these precious gifts for your own selfish reasons? That's the very reason I am here, to make you see.
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.
Psalm 52:8
Karras: And that is precisely why I will always be happy and successful in anything I do, and you, you will falter until you end up in the gutter on your deathbed. You have treaded in the realm of pain and despair for so long that you consider it home, you no longer think of it as the last place you'd ever wish to be. One day you will see the light, even if it is at the end, and you will realize that everything you have ever known, everything you ever thought was right, was entirely wrong. And when you stand outside Heaven's gates, asking for forgiveness for exactly how wrong you were, the Creator will look down and see inside your soul. He will hear the things you say to me now, and he will cast you aside, where you belong. And you'll think back on this day, and wish you hadn't been so cavalier about everything.
Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.
Psalm 136:2
Karras: Mine however does not. I could easily point out your hypocritical attitude of judging my companion, then getting mad when she returned the favor. But your scripture pretty much summed it up. You judged her, and she judged you, thy Lord's will was done, Daredevil. For a man who does not believe in God, you have certainly have a knack for doing the exact opposite of his advice. Forget about who judges who, because you cannot control your flapping lips long enough to think before you speak. You are in no position to tell me what I stand for, and what I should be ashamed of. I care not if you burn your own bible, but He does. And I am his agent. You want bloodshed? That I can do. You want pain? That I can do. I know Desiree is fond of this line.. but..
Yours is a Vengeful God.
And His will is my command. My God have mercy on you, for I certainly will not.
Amen
{Fade out with one last quote on the screem.}
Bless all his skills, O LORD, and be pleased with the work of his hands. Smite the loins of those who rise up against him; strike his foes till they rise no more.
Deuteronomy 33:11
