{Karras stands, looking out the window, his form lit only by the moonlight coming in from the sky and the cameras ability to accept even minimal light. Long moments pass in silence, until Karras begins speaking without turning his head.}
Karras: I apologize for the late hour and the poor lighting, but sometimes the words of the Lord speak to me at odd hours, and I have no choice but to relay them to you. Even if it means I'll be dead tired working out tomorrow. First off, I know very little of the ins and outs of this business. Well, that's a misnomer, I have much knowledge, but lack the experience to completely understand certain things that I come across. I was always under the impression that tag team matches were made with real teams, or the occasional pit enemies together to enhance the drama, but this is seemingly random. While I don't understand it, I must accept it.
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
Genesis 6:4
Karras: Like I must accept teaming with Xavier Cross, he must accept that he, like all of us, is charged with protecting God's world against those who would sin against it. But, it is a perilous world nonetheless. You saw a crime being committed, a man fleeing from the justice he deserved, and you acted. You left a wounded person in care, and did what had to be done. Sure, you could have been killed, but you could also be killed walking across the street, or driving to the store. God saved you that day, Mr. Cross. Maybe not physically, but He was watching you, smiling down on you as you did your work. Your wife too, will one day understand. Hero may just be a title to some, but you have earned that mantle, and I hope you carry it with you with pride. I cannot say I won't let you down, because I am still learning how to live up to my potentional in that ring. But I guarantee that you will get everything I am capable of giving.
On hearing this report, the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests were puzzled, wondering what would come of this.
Acts 5:24
Karras: And this brings me to the other team in this competative competition, and Fergus Callaghan. Everyone seems to make the same point about him. That he's a drunk, a lout, and not worth anything because of it. They may be right, but what puzzles me is that nobody has any proof of this. Sure, he's imbibed on camera, but that's just one drink. Are we so quick to prosecute him for things intoxicated men do, when we are not even sure he is one of those men? For all we know, Fergus might be the most responsible drunk in the history of the world. Doubtful, but possible. Could I pull a Brad Kane and shame him for every child killed by a drunk driver? Yes. Does that make it right? Never. Not in God's eyes, and not in mine. Fergus has many faults and shortcomings, but I will not fault him for something he does not do. Fault one man for his faults, not for all the things men who share that fault do. Fergus is not a stupid man. He knows the consequences of alchohol abuse, and he chooses to ignore them. So, I'm looking forward to this Fergus. Intoxicated men can survive more pain than most, and I will have to work real hard for this. But, who would I be if I shunned hard work? I am a man of God after all.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I, whom you have redeemed.
Psalm 71:23
Karras: And now we are at Scotty Calloway, the redeemed. A man who was broken and left to rot, while his friend, his comrade in arms ran off to be someone on his own. Now, he has risen back to resume his climb towards the top. Or has the disability payments merely run out? I do not know. Face it, Mr. Calloway, you put in minimal effort then, and you were rewarded with nothing. So God says, so shall it be on Earth. I pray you do not lean on Fergus like you did Joe. For I fear that Fergus is far less of a stable pedastal then either you or he would like to believe. I could be wrong, you could be a changed man, destined to find greatness with a new purposeful fire. But I don't think so. I may not be a seer, but you're transparent. I see right through to your core, and it shakes with the strain of having to work, and soon.. it will break.
The LORD rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. The LORD delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the LORD's anointed.
Samuel 26:23
Karras: I am the annointed, and at this point, so is Mr. Cross. Friday night, repentance begins.. not for things you may do, not for things you others would believe you did, but for the things you have done.
My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.
Exodus 22:24
Yours is a Vengeful God.
