~*~*~Our scene is an unfamiliar one, for a wrestling audience at least. We can see a playground spread out over a vast area. Kids are off in every direction, on swings, playing on the monkey bars, and climbing all over every inch of equipment that can be seen anywhere. The camera though focuses in on one little boy in particular, we watch on as Zell plays around in the sand amongst the other children. After a few seconds, Zell gets ups and he heads for the tire stairs that take the kids to the top of the structure and the large slide. Zell starts a slow attempt to get up the tire steps, and his small legs appear to hamper him.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: It’s truly amazing the metaphors that one can get for life by simply watching a child develop his motor skills and struggle to achieve his small goals for the first time. Personally, I don’t think that we ever stop taking those small steps, the goals just become deeper and the plans become more advanced.
~*~*~Zell makes it up a few steps along the way and he stumbles through the middle of one of the tires and ends up lying in the sand.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Much like in our childhood, we often end up back at stage one, reanalyzing our dreams and our plans as we look up at a task that appears to be next to impossible. Much like Zell is feeling right now, we end up wondering if it’s really worth the struggle to meet that goal that we want to attain. For Zell, it’s a matter of whether it is worth it to fall down again just to have a chance to take one ride on the slide. For us as adults, we wonder if it is worth it to try to attain our goals when we know that things could blow up in our faces and lead to our friends and enemies alike laughing in our face.
~*~*~Zell picks himself up out of the dirt now and starts the slow climb to the top again, we watch as he almost loses his balance a few times, but manages to keep his trek on, and he finally reaches the top and pulls himself onto solid ground. He looks down towards his dad and jumps up and down and waves. We watch as Lance lets a huge smile out and he waves back at Zell.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: There is nothing more satisfying than success. Right now he is elated, jumping around for the entire world to see and making sure that everyone knows that he succeeded. This is how Joe is feeling these days. For years I have been watching on as Joe Everyman tried to do something relevant, tried to make his way towards the top, and every time that he made one significant step, he wound up tumbling back down to the bottom and having to start over. Now he is standing up on a pedestal, jumping around and holding the National Title high for all to see. Joe Everyman has attained a goal and now he feels that he can do anything at all.
Joe, the sad reality is that unlike Zell just now, your goal that you have attained…you have attained it before. National Champion is nothing new for you. You have held that belt before, you have held the title that is considered a stepping stone to greater things numerous times, and yet you cannot take that step to greater things. Unlike little Zell there Joe, your feigned success is nothing but a bold face lie. You can act thrilled that you won a title that you have held before, you can make it seem like this is a defining moment in your career, but let’s be honest with one another Joe, you have had a ride on that slide before. The celebration is not genuine.
~*~*~The camera zooms in on Zell again and he is climbing the last set of stairs before he gets to the pinnacle of his journey, the big slide. Zell smiles and waves at Lance again and then takes the sweet ride of success down the slide. As he hits the ground with both feet he smiles from ear to ear and runs back to take the journey once again.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: Oh to be young again. To be able to run around in circles and re-live the same moments over and over and find true joy in it…you know, it actually makes sense to me now Joe. You haven’t matured past that level of pure bliss. You feel a true sense of accomplishment every time that you attain the same levels of success, and you are content to be in your niche and never succeed at anything bigger and better.
~*~*~The camera focuses is on Lance now and fades out the sights and sounds of the playground around Lance.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: That is the key difference between myself and you Joe. I have no intention on going through life in circles, I am always looking for a new challenge, looking to attain different heights and looking for new experiences and the joys that come with them. I have been in this company off and off now since that first Road to the Gold Tournament. I have had a lot of success and I have had a lot of different experiences. In that first Road to the Gold, I had my first shot at the World Title, and I won. In my second Road to the Gold Pay Per View, myself and Adam won the tag team titles for my first time. Now, here we are. Year Three, I am set for another different title, the National Title. Take a look at my history it speaks for itself, I am undefeated at Road to the Gold, I am undefeated when I am the challenger for the gold.
I realize that many people have made a mockery of you Joe Everyman. They call you a no show, they call you a siv, they talk about your lack of work ethic and your lack of drive. I will stray from those comments a little bit today. I don’t respect you, I don’t believe that you are in my league of competition, but what I do believe is that you do have drive and you do have work ethic. I just think that unlike most people you seem to know your limits and you have chosen to live within them.
Last month you managed to take a victory over me, and to be honest, I still have no idea how that happened. You managed to take a fluke victory from me, but it is going to be different this month. I have also been unstoppable since I returned to nCw. Sure, there has been a few losses along the way, but the reality is that I have had a lot more good than bad. In my career there are very few people that can boast that they have beaten me twice in a row, and I am adamant that you are not going to join that elite list of professional wrestlers.
I realize that this is a high point in your career Joe, that you feel like maybe this time you will really take that next step. Maybe the people will start to notice you for reasons different than your invisible nature. Maybe the fans will start to cheer you because you are starting to take that next step. Maybe you will finally find vindication and take that brass ring at the top of the card that had long eluded you. I can understand all of those emotions, but the reality is that you are not going to achieve any of those things. The fans will never notice you, I, and many other wrestlers who are much better than you have tried to put you over in the past, you don’t have what it takes. The fans will never love you, you are an arrogant ass. You will not take that next step, you are incapable. The brass ring will always be just outside of your reach because there will always be someone that is bigger than you, better than you and more driven than you are to do what needs to be done. As a matter of fact, that trend will continue this Sunday when I tear you down off of your pedestal, I will prove that your lone victory over me was not a signal of the times, not a sign that the one time student had passed the teacher, but rather was caused by one bad night on my part, and one smart move on yours.
I am undefeated in nCw when gold is on the line. I am undefeated in nCw at the Road to the Gold Tournament. I am fit to become the National Champion for the first time and take my next step to becoming the World Champion, because that is my destiny Joe. The simple fact that it all boils down to once again is…I AM BETTER THAN YOU.
~*~*~Zell comes running into the scene now and Lance jumps to his feet and grabs Zell in his arms and starts to spin him around.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: Zell, that was amazing my boy. I saw you climb up there and take that first trip down the big slide. I am so proud of you. Much like daddy you have no fears and no worries about what may step in your way. All obstacles can and will be overcome. After all, your last name is Ryan not Everyman.
